
Sharklab ADRIA was founded in 2008 by Andrej A. Gajić, who was then a high school student in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina. Today, Andrej is an internationally awarded scientist and senior Principal Investigator who has led more than 25 regional projects and published over 80 scientific references. He is a Ph.D. researcher in veterinary medicine with an M.Sc. in biology and conservation, focusing on fisheries-induced trauma, post-capture survival, and the biology of elasmobranchs in the Mediterranean and beyond. He is widely known for his role as head scientist for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and The Explorers Club. Moreover, he was appointed as an Honorary Ambassador of the UNEP MAP Barcelona Convention. His scientific discoveries have been featured in more than 100 countries and thousands of media outlets, including FOX, Disney, BBC, CNN, Warner Bros., Forbes, Yahoo, and many more.
